RaspectMuzik Mastering Service

Audio mastering is one of the essential arts that is needed to make your tracks sound good on CD, vinyl or even as MP3. There is often a confusion of mastering with mixing.

The two are very different in many ways : Mixing is the balancing of levels between instruments and getting the individual instruments to sound good, where as mastering is the final step, the 'polishing' of the overall sound and the maximising of volume. Often the reason that commercial CDs sound so much louder than that created at 'home', is because of the use of compression and clever limiting techniques to maximise the levels, thus boosting the overall sound.

The CD Mastering process is often overlooked in many recording studios throughout the world. RaspectMuzik can offer mastering as an inclusive service, or as an individual service.

So simply put, mastering is a "tidying up" of the music after it has been recorded and mixed, but before it is produced onto CD.

The stages of mastering to CD are:-

· Compile the music together at the mastering desk

· Place all the tracks in order for the final version

· Equalise the music to removing any anomalies

· Compress all the tracks in the compilation so that they sound fatter, tighter and with more power

· Add a small amount of reverb if necessary to any/all of the tracks for ' live' sound

· Increase the volume of each track whilst removing unwanted spikes and sudden level increases

· Balance the level of each track with one another so none seem too loud or too quite against one another

· Create fade in/out, cross fades and pauses between each track

· Create track indents, so that all tracks are separate on the CD master

· Add CD Text to your CD if required

· Create a Master CD and copies, that can be duplicated or copied elsewhere

Recording & Production

· £50 per hour (minimum 1 hour excluding weekends/bank holidays)

· £249 per week day (excluding bank holidays) - 10am to 6pm (arrival time 9.45)

· £299 Saturday/Sunday/Bank Holiday - 10am to 6pm (arrival time 9.45)

· £169 per half day (not weekends) - 10am to 2pm / 2pm - 6pm

· Creatively involved with music & song arrangements

· Vocal pitch correction programming/harmony generation

Convert your records (33's, 45's and 78's) on to CD, with or without restoration. Includes the use of our digital controlled, digital output professional turntable with a direct digital link to our CD mastering suite ensuring a top quality result each and every time.

· PER TRACK - £7.50 including fades, restoration and re-mastering (£50 minimum charge).

· STANDARD ALBUM - £39 per album including track markers on CD.

· PROFESSIONAL ALBUM - £65 per album including fades, restoration, re-mastering and track markers on CD.

· DELUXE ALBUM - £79 per album including fades, restoration, re-mastering, track markers on CD and direct-on-disc printed artwork taken from original vinyl sleeve.

An additional surcharge may be added should a record be in less-than-good condition. All prices exclude VAT.

Booking

For reservations in the studio simply call 0208 141 1166.

You may wish to call and "pencil in" a few provisional dates so that you can later gather various members of your band before any solid booking has been agreed. This is fine, and we would call if you in the interim period if another confirmed booking came in on any of your provisional dates.

A deposit of 10% is required to confirm your studio booking. This will then be deducted from your bill at the end of your session here at RaspectMuzik. The deposit is non-refundable.

You can move the booking dates providing you give us at least two weeks notice.

All studio sessions must be paid for in full when leaving the studio on your final day.
